What makes a REC or EAC credible, and do they need to be sourced from RE100 suppliers?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

A credible REC or EAC is one that is issued and tracked through a recognized registry, such as GOs in Europe, RECs in North America, or I-RECs in many other countries. It must be retired properly for your use and cover the same time period and volume as your electricity consumption.#

You do not need to buy from a supplier that is part of RE100. What matters is that the certificates are valid, traceable, and not double-counted. Buying from RE100 suppliers can add a layer of confidence, but it’s not required for credible reporting.
