Why are Ukrainian GOs not visible on international tracking platforms?
Ukraine is not shown on the map yet because its renewable energy certificate system is still in the early stages of implementation. Although legislation for Guarantees of Origin (GOs) was passed in mid-2024 and the national GO registry began accepting applications in August 2024, the system is not yet fully operational.
Ukraine is already a member of the Association of Issuing Bodies (AIB), but it has not yet started participating in the AIB’s electricity scheme. As a result, Ukrainian GOs cannot yet be traded or recognized across borders through AIB-connected systems.
Once Ukraine activates its participation in the AIB electricity scheme, its certificates should become visible on international tracking platforms like the AIB Hub or I-REC registry, and the map will be updated accordingly.
