What makes a REC or EAC credible, and do they need to be sourced from RE100 suppliers?

A credible REC or EAC is one that is issued and tracked through a recognized registry, such as GOs in Europe, RECs in North America, or I-RECs in many other countries. It must be retired properly for your use and cover the same time period and volume as your electricity consumption.

You do not need to buy from a supplier that is part of RE100. What matters is that the certificates are valid, traceable, and not double-counted. Buying from RE100 suppliers can add a layer of confidence, but it’s not required for credible reporting.
