How does the methodology used to measure our emissions compare to what Green Project might offer direct customers?

Green Project Technologies implements various calculation methodologies to deliver accurate results. In this scenario, a spend-based approach will be utilized as part of our standard corporate carbon accounting framework, with a few distinct adjustments:

1. Exclusive reliance on spend data

For this assessment, Green Project Technologies will estimate your total Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions solely using your organization’s spend data. While spend-based calculation is typically appropriate for estimating emissions from purchased goods and services (Scope 3 Category 1), our comprehensive carbon accounting solutions incorporate a range of more precise methodologies for additional emission sources. The spend-based approach can provide a high-level, directional view of GHG emissions, though it is recognized as the least granular and least precise method available. It is generally unsuitable for Scope 1 and 2 emissions, where facility-specific primary data is preferred. To mitigate this limitation, Green Project Technologies translates expenditure on products and services related to Scope 1 and 2 activities into physical activity data wherever feasible.

2. Streamlined calculation process

Compared to our standard customer solutions, the spend-based calculations applied here will be more simplified. Typically, Green Project Technologies enhances accuracy by drawing on supplier or vendor details, item descriptions, and spend categories, and applies supplier-specific emission factors where available—the most granular and reliable method for calculating spend-based GHG emissions. Our proprietary database of supplier and product emission factors further supports robust estimations. For this particular approach, calculations are made at the spend category level only; supplier- and product-specific emission factors will not be applied, in contrast to the methodology used in our standard offering.
