How to export cloud emissions data from Azure

Microsoft offers easy tools to export data about the GHG emissions associated with your company's Azure usage.

Method 1: This method is fast and easy, but provides slightly less-detailed data than method 2.

1. Navigate to portal.azure.com, and search for "Carbon Optimization" in the search bar.

Method 2: This method requires a PowerBI subscription, but provides more detailed data than method 1.

Connecting your Azure account to PowerBI:

1. Navigate to this AppSource link and install the Microsoft Emissions Impact Dashboard

app.

2. Navigate to your PowerBI dashboard and select the newly-installed app.

3. Click “Connect your data”

4. Enter your Azure EnrollmentID or BillingID (depending on your customer type with

Azure). You can find this ID in the "Cost Management" dashboard within Azure.

5. You will need to authenticate with an authorized Azure user to enable the Emissions

Impact Dashboard app to pull data from your Azure account

Exporting data:

1. Look for the graph called “Microsoft carbon emissions from my company cloud usage:

scope 1, 2, and 3 (MTCO2e)”.

2. Select “Expand all one level down in the hierarchy” for that graph—emissions data

should now be displaying in quarterly intervals.
