Decarbonisation Targets & Initiatives

What is decarbonisation?

Decarbonisation is the process of reducing your company's greenhouse gas emissions over time. It's about more than just knowing your footprint — it's about demonstrating that you have a plan to shrink it. Customers increasingly want to see that their suppliers are actively working to reduce their environmental impact.

What does this section cover?

The Decarbonisation section of your profile lets you share your reduction targets, ongoing initiatives, or declare that you haven't set any yet. There are three options.

Option 1: Set a future reductions target

A decarbonisation target is a commitment to reduce your emissions by a specific amount by a specific date. To add a target, you'll need to provide:

Field Description
Baseline year The starting point from which you'll measure your reduction
Target year The year by which you aim to achieve your goal
Ambition level The percentage reduction you're committing to
Target method type How the target is defined — e.g. absolute reduction (total tonnes) or intensity-based (per unit of revenue, per employee, etc.)

Click Save and Continue once complete.

Option 2: Add a decarbonisation initiative

If you're already taking action, describe the initiatives you're implementing. These could include energy efficiency upgrades, switching to lower-carbon suppliers, waste reduction programmes, fleet electrification, or any other measures. Adding initiatives shows your customer that you're actively working to reduce emissions, not just setting future goals.

Option 3: Declare that you don't have any

If you haven't set targets or started initiatives yet, you can declare this. It keeps your profile honest and complete. You can always return to this section later as your sustainability strategy develops.
