Time and Resource Questions

"How much time will this really take?"

Most small businesses complete their initial data submission in under an hour once their spend data is ready. This is not a process that requires days or weeks — it is designed to be efficient and fit around your existing workload.

"Do we need special expertise?"

No specialised knowledge is required. If you can gather basic business spending information, you can complete this process. The platform guides you through each step, and the support team is available when you need help.

"Will this cost us money?"

The emissions calculation service is free when requested by your customer. There are no hidden fees or additional costs for using the platform or accessing support.

Data and Privacy

"What data do you actually need from us?"

Green Project needs your business spending data — primarily from your existing accounting records. This typically includes utility payments, major purchases, travel expenses, and operational costs. You do not need to share sensitive customer data, employee information, or proprietary business details.

"Is our business data kept confidential?"

Yes. Your data is used solely for emissions calculation purposes and is protected under Green Project’s data privacy policies. Your emissions data is not shared with your customer without your knowledge and agreement.

Technical Questions

"What if we don’t use accounting software?"

You can still complete emissions reporting using:

  • Bank statements

  • Supplier invoices

  • Expense receipts

  • Manual expense records or spreadsheets

"How accurate does our data need to be?"

The spend-based methodology Green Project uses for SMEs is inherently directional — it gives you a solid GHG baseline rather than a precisely audited figure. This is normal and expected at this stage. Reasonably complete financial records are sufficient to start. As your data quality improves year-on-year, so will the precision of your results. Starting with estimates where records are incomplete is acceptable and common.

Process Questions

"What happens after we submit our data?"

After submission, Green Project’s team reviews your data and calculates your emissions footprint. You will receive a report summarising your results, along with guidance on what they mean and how to improve. Your customer receives the emissions disclosure they requested.

"Do we have to do this every year?"

Ongoing reporting is encouraged and becomes easier each year as you build familiarity with the process and data collection. However, the frequency of reporting is ultimately driven by your customer’s requirements.

"What support is available if we get stuck?"
